Bluepoint’s Demon’s Souls Remake Has Sold More Than 1 Million Copies
A lot of weapons can be obtained early on, more so if a player happens to have pre-ordered the game. Demon’s Souls is set in the cursed kingdom of Boletaria where a powerful demonic entity known as The Old One unleashes a deathly black fog that begins to engulf all of the land. A host of other demons and unholy creatures also appear, destroying the living and turning them into soulless monsters. The Penetrator Set is perhaps one of the most difficult armor sets to acquire in the game. If you want to don this armor set, you’ll have to solve the most intricate secret placed in the game by Bluepoint Games.
Unfortunately, things aren’t looking great for a dedicated sequel to Demon’s Souls, despite there being high demand and a massive built-in audience. The main problem is one that fans of FromSoftware (the company responsible for all things Souls) are more than familiar with, which ultimately comes down to who owns the rights to the Demon’s Souls IP. This story will sound very familiar to anyone hoping for a Bloodborne 2, and sadly, I don’t think either game is likely to see a true sequel anytime soon. As much as the world needs games that make us feel secure and cozy, I believe we need games that encourage and empower us, too. A sequel would require either FromSoftware working again under Sony’s direction or Sony finding another developer to continue the series, both of which are complicated, messy, and likely to be avoided by all involved parties. Further, FromSoftware founder Hidetaka Miyazaki doesn’t seem particularly interested in pursuing a Demon’s Souls sequel, unless he’s working on it in secret. FromSoftware as a company has moved on from Demon’s Souls in a major way, and it didn’t have anything to do with the remake from Bluepoint. Unfortunately, despite a Demon’s Souls 2 being theoretically possible, it’s very unlikely it ever gets made due to Sony owning the Demon’s Souls IP.

Open-world Games That Do What Ubisoft’s Best Never Could

While we don’t know for certain how much ownership FromSoftware has to these games, Sony owns part of FromSoftware, and their parent company, Kadokawa. It’s often forgotten but both games were not only published by Sony, but Sony’s Japan Studio led development on both games, just before Sony would dissolve them and integrate them into Team Asobi.
If this was or is an issue, the great thing is that players have the ability to toggle back to the old camera if that’s the type of experience they prefer and would like to avoid the confined viewpoint of the new camera angle. These bosses may be the scariest that FromSoftware has ever designed. Dark Souls 3 is similar to its predecessors in that it’s challenging action RPG with a vague story. This is all to say that even though FromSoftware’s contribution to Demon’s Souls is well appreciated, it, alongside Bloodborne, where always Sony projects.
